Pete Sampras’ Thousand Oaks Mansion On For Sale

Situated on a 20-acre hilltop in Thousand Oaks, California, this sprawling mansion belongs to the tennis great Pete Sampras. Completed in 2009, the 16,000 square-foot property boasts a gated driveway, seven spacious bedrooms, 12 baths, enormous closet space, and panoramic views of lush rolling hills.

The inside of the two-story mansion is stunning. In addition to the spacious bedrooms and many baths, the home also comes with a large theater and game room with a separate poker room. Minimalists will love the classic furnishings and blend of teak, white oak, and Anigre woods. The single-family home also features imported stones and high-quality finishing throughout, including a beautiful spacious kitchen.

While the interior is impressive, there are other features that make this Lake Sherwood home extremely irresistible to potential buyers, especially the ones outside of the main residence. Not surprisingly, the custom-built mansion comes with a north-south-oriented lit tennis court, the place where Sampras practiced his game. The property also comes with a separate 2,000 square foot gym, and a large fully-contained guest house. Love to swim? This ideal home is not short of a large infinity pool overlooking the valley. The entire lot measures over 850,000 square feet.

So how much for this sprawling mansion located at 390 West Stafford Road? The asking price is $19,950,000 million, but that’s a deal compared to the original price. In March 2010, Sampras listed the home on the market at $25 million.

Although retired, Sampras enjoyed a 15-year career and was former world champion. He has received 14 Grand Slam singles titles and is considered one of the best tennis players of all time. He is married to actress Bridgette Wilson.

Lake Sherwood is a beautiful community located in the Santa Monica Mountains and nearby Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village. With a little less than 700 residents, Lake Sherwood is known as a gated golf-club community. Nearby schools include Westlake Elementary School. Want to know your neighbors? Other famous people who have lived or still live in the community include hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, singer Paul Anka, singer Tom Petty, and Britney Spears. Sylvester Stallone also owns a home in the area.

Domespace: A Unique Eco-Friendly Dome Shaped Home

Usually when a home is built to take advantage of the sun for energy, it features solar panels and energy systems. But in one dome-shaped home in New Paltz, New York, solar power is harnessed through a rotating feature much like the earth, except it comes with a remote control.

Dubbed Domespace, this 3,000-square-foot circular home is built on an electronically-controlled axis with the ability to rotate 360 degrees in just five minutes. The circular design is modeled after other eco-friendly homes such as huts and igloos. While the home doesn’t always have to be spinning, it does rotate each season to take advantage of the sun for all of its solar energy needs. Located only 90 minutes north of New York City, and in walking distance from the Mohonk Preserve, this attractive property is listed at $1.2 million.

But the rotation feature isn’t the only advantage that makes Domespace so appealing. This contemporary two-story home is eco-friendly and extremely comfortable. It features stylish bamboo floors, beautiful wood and stone cabinets, spacious rooms with 40-foot ceilings, and a central spiral staircase. It has three bedrooms, and two and a half baths. The second floor features the master bedroom, an office, and a balcony. The listing agent of the home, Anne Rajs, says it looks like a space ship. and that it is the “coolest home” she’s ever seen.

Although it is definitely one-of-a-kind in the U.S., this eco-friendly beauty was built using a kit from France. According to the French manufacturer, Domespace, there are nearly 200 of these homes built in France and abroad, including Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and Taiwan.

The new owners can enjoy living in an eco-friendly home with the ability to walk to the preserve, which holds 1,000 acres of hiking and rock climbing. At only $ 1.2 million, your new address can be 116 Canaan Rd, New Paltz, New York, 12561.

Larry Ellison’s Exceedingly Fashionable Abutting Estates

Larry Ellison may be the co-founder and CEO of Oracle, but in more than a few circles he is just as well known for his big time real-estate-ing. And it isn’t just the number of properties he’s bought over the years that’s noteworthy, it’s his acquiring style — he buys multiple celebrated properties in single exclusive areas around the world. Today, his properties comprise a globe-trotting patchwork of luxurious residential living.

It seems that a special predilection of this uber-rich captain of industry is buying huge adjacent properties and combining them into ginormous structures. In star-studded Malibu, California, for instance, Ellison has five abutting properties. If he wants a view of a more southerly ocean — and is willing to commit to an hour-and-a-half freeway drive — he can get to his Newport Beach mansion, which was once a bona fide Astor family home. If he wants a change of scenery, but doesn’t want to leave his beloved Golden State, he can travel east to Rancho Mirage, were a personal 19-hole golf course awaits him. And if a jet is handy, and he’s feeling especially green-thumb-y, he can cross the Pacific to get to Kyoto, and cut some shrubs in his famous “historic garden.”

Of late, Ellison has been busy in the federal borderlands around Lake Tahoe. Reportedly, he’s coughed up about $102 million on separate properties to create three big lakefront lots. One of these, located in Washoe County, Nevada, will have a residence comprising 18,000 square feet of living space. The other properties he’s snapped up around the area are in Incline Village (a.k.a. “Income Village), Snug Harbor, and Glenbrook, which is a gated community. The Snug Harbor quantity is unknown, but he spent $12 million in Incline Village and $11.7 million in Glenbrook. Real estate professionals think Larry Ellison’s kindred spirits include Paul Allen (Microsoft’s co-founder) and Russian tycoons like Roman Abramovich.

Dream Property on the Shores of Lake Erie

Few homes listed on the market compare to the grandeur and sheer imagination of the Waterwood Estate. Located on the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio, this amazing property is listed for a whopping $19.5 million. The idea for this eccentric home was conceived by the late wealthy inventor Don Brown — the genius behind drop ceilings — and was made possible by the work of world-renowned architect High Newell Jacobsen. Jacobsen helped buy furniture, the art and designed the landscape. It was built in 1990, and this never-before-seen or photographed home was unveiled to the public on September 1.

Inspired by homes Brown had seen in Paris, Savannah and Georgetown, the Waterwood Estate sits on 160 acres, a marina, and 2,300 linear feet of waterfront and beachfront. The property consists of 20 castle-like concrete buildings connected by glass corridors and a helicopter pad. In total, the two-story home features 100 rooms, including five bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, 3 kitchens, 8 fireplaces, a wine grotto, a sauna, and two pools.

The lower level features a gym, a ballet room, family room and guest suite. The dining room has a rotating floor making it possible for dinner guests to have a view of the water. The home also has five bars, one with a polar bear. It also features a barber shop, where Brown would go every morning for a shave. He even has a hidden room with a fully decorated Christmas tree. The tree sits in an air-filtered room to maintain a dust-free Christmas tree that smells of pine needles.

So why is Brown’s dream home on the market? Unfortunately, the inventor and his wife were killed in a plane crash in 2010 and their two sons decided to sell the property. There are several interested buyers, including a ministry group, a group of Colorado helicopter pilots who want to turn the place into a resort, and a couple.

Donald Trump Can’t Sell Trump National Golf Course Estate for $12 Million, Settles for $7.15 Million

It’s being reported that Donald Trump’s Rancho Palos Verdes golf course estate was sold for $7.15 million, and it’s headline news because the original asking price was $12 million. The property went on sale last year, and the Donald is supposed to know how to turn a profit, no matter the odds. Clearly, he couldn’t make it happen this time. The sale was handled by Linda D’Ambrosi and Sandra Callen, a duo from Keller Williams Reality in Rancho Palos Verdes.

But Trump still owns Trump National Golf Course, the 18-hole green on which the just-sold, Mediterranean-style mansion sits on. This big house is the jewel of a set of six homes erected by Trump — it’s the one he had set aside for personal use, but he apparently had a change of heart.

The still-very-expensive house has five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and a kitchen the size of a small apartment — 1,000 square feet. Some more luxe details: a master bedroom with a patio and fire pit, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows, marble floors, an infinity pool, wine room, and a bar that’s the spitting image of the golf course restaurant’s one.

Although unlikely, given the magnitude of Donald Trump’s famous ego, some speculate that his decision to let the property go had to do with the contentious tone of his relationship with his RPV neighbors. Trump insisted on getting a nearby street named in his honor, and even sued Rancho Palos Verdes itself for obstructing his efforts to uphold “the Trump image.” How much did he sue for? Oh, a mere $100 million.

Trump, the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts, is 65 years old and currently presides as chairman and chief executive officer of his real estate development company. He also stars in, and produces, “The Apprentice.” He currently owns homes in Beverly Hills and New York City.
