Donald Trump Can’t Sell Trump National Golf Course Estate for $12 Million, Settles for $7.15 Million

It’s being reported that Donald Trump’s Rancho Palos Verdes golf course estate was sold for $7.15 million, and it’s headline news because the original asking price was $12 million. The property went on sale last year, and the Donald is supposed to know how to turn a profit, no matter the odds. Clearly, he couldn’t make it happen this time. The sale was handled by Linda D’Ambrosi and Sandra Callen, a duo from Keller Williams Reality in Rancho Palos Verdes.

But Trump still owns Trump National Golf Course, the 18-hole green on which the just-sold, Mediterranean-style mansion sits on. This big house is the jewel of a set of six homes erected by Trump — it’s the one he had set aside for personal use, but he apparently had a change of heart.

The still-very-expensive house has five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and a kitchen the size of a small apartment — 1,000 square feet. Some more luxe details: a master bedroom with a patio and fire pit, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows, marble floors, an infinity pool, wine room, and a bar that’s the spitting image of the golf course restaurant’s one.

Although unlikely, given the magnitude of Donald Trump’s famous ego, some speculate that his decision to let the property go had to do with the contentious tone of his relationship with his RPV neighbors. Trump insisted on getting a nearby street named in his honor, and even sued Rancho Palos Verdes itself for obstructing his efforts to uphold “the Trump image.” How much did he sue for? Oh, a mere $100 million.

Trump, the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts, is 65 years old and currently presides as chairman and chief executive officer of his real estate development company. He also stars in, and produces, “The Apprentice.” He currently owns homes in Beverly Hills and New York City.

The Michael Gantert Luxury House for sale for $2.3 Million

Renowned architect Pierre Koenig is known for designing many award-winning homes, including the Schwartz House, Koenig House No.2, and, the most famous, the Case Study House #22. However, the home that is making headlines right now is The Michael Gantert Residence.

Built in 1981, this unique residence is one of the last homes the architect built before his death. He died in 2004. It is listed on the market for $2.3 million through Crosby Doe Associates.

Foreseeing the boom of Hollywood, young businessman Michael Gantert decided to build a home after Koenig’s famous steel and glass Case Study Houses. Situated underneath the Hollywood Reservoir, this 1,994-square foot home is located at 6431 La Punta Drive, in Los Angeles California. The cantilevered design of the home appears as though it is hovering in the mountains as part of the nature that surrounds it, a common theme that set Koenig’s work apart from other architects. Onlookers from Hollywood Boulevard will see the home as a large “cubist sculpture.”

Although at first glance The Michael Gantert Residence may not scream luxury, the home boasts modern luxury living. It features an open plan living space with spectacular views of Hollywood and the Pacific Ocean. It is also extremely private. The beautiful steel and glass home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac on a private, gated road, which means it is not accessible to the general public. It is also extremely spacious and features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. If you’re looking for luxury amenities, you will appreciate the marble baths, a large walk-in closet, dining and kitchen area and a powder room. It is a two-story home; however the street level of the home is on the second floor while the bedrooms are located below. The residence also includes three covered parking spaces.

Awe-Inspiring Treehouses

Some people never get over the romance of living in a treehouse. Many of those who cherished them as children grow up to build their adult homes up a sturdy trunk (or two) to continue with life in the canopies. Those that don’t strictly live there may condition treehouses to serve as art studios, unconventional office spaces, or make a living from them by renting them out as holiday rooms. Treehouses for adults and children exist all over the world. What follows is an overview of some exceptional examples.

Olympic Peninsula, Washington: A Swiss Chalet

Treehouse Workshop was in charge of building this audacious beauty — it even has a fireplace — whose construction dates to the very recent past: 2005. Besides the kindling fire, this house of the treetops also has a working bath, kitchenette, room for four sound sleepers, and balconies to peer at the natural landscape beyond.

Northumberland, England: Alnwick Garden Treehouse

This grand and charming treehouse is a well-known restaurant for seasonal and locally sourced dishes. After eating a meal here, patrons have the option of taking a digestatory walk along rope bridges and decks. If they choose to, they can also rest on living tree limbs while inside the restaurant. There’s even a Harry Potter connection: nearby is the Hogwarts School, well, the structure seen as the school in two of the films: Alnwick Castle.

Crossville, Tennessee: The Minister’s Treehouse

One could suppose that a 10-story treehouse is nothing but fitting to its perching, high-ground location — the tree is the living thing most known incredible heights, after all. But this towering structure is meant to be large and spacious for other reasons — it’s a church. Horace Burgess built this large-scaled beauty. In interviews he credits divine inspiration for the impulse to build it: “I was praying one day, and the Lord said, ‘If you build me a treehouse, I’ll see you never run out of material.”‘

Germany: Treehouse Djuren

Baumraum is a German architecture firm that specializes in modern design, and it is responsible for the unusual appearance of this treehouse. It isn’t the most spacious on the list, but its whimsical appeal is meant for both children and adults.

Northern California: Robert Louis Stevenson Legacy House

Treehouse Workshop built this cabin among California redwoods. The land on which it stands was once Robert Louis Stevenson’s property. Even the treehouse’s building materials include windows and doors from the author’s own home.
