Located in the coveted Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills, Walt Disney’s former mansion is on the market for a mere $90 million.
Built on 3.7 acres of land, the mega mansion dubbed the Carolwood Estate features eight bedrooms and 17 bathrooms. The home also feature luxurious amenities, such as a movie theater, a library, three bars, a gym, a wine cellar, a swimming pool with a pool house, two safe rooms, a putting green, and a tennis court. The new property also features staff quarters and a two-story entry foyer.
Disney’s family owned the mega mansion about 60 years ago. However, the home’s current owner, Gabriel Brener, purchased the home from Disney in 1998 for $8.45 million. In 2001, Brener completely remodeled the mansion because the place was reportedly covered with asbestos.
Although the home was remodeled, the current owner didn’t destroy everything related to Disney. The property still features the original 90-foot underground tunnel designed for Disney’s one-eight-scale steam railroad. The tunnel still has the original ivy-covered stone archway with the date “1950” carved on it. Disney enthusiasts can see the barn and the railroad track at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, while the train can be seen at the Walk Disney Family Museum in San Francisco.
