Price Tags on the Country’s Most Expensive Homes

The U.S. may be emerging from a financial crisis, but hardly anyone would seriously doubt its standing as the land of vast wealth and opportunity. Trulia.com just published a list of the country’s most expensive residences, and, spanning coast to coast, the gilded manors (and penthouses) loom spectacular. Here are some highlights.

To own a home on this list, you’ll need to have at least $60 million handy — that’s the price of the Mark Penthouse in New York, the least expensive of the bunch. At 9,799 square feet, this penthouse is also one of the least roomy. Though, of course, the space it does have accommodates six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, which is nothing to complain about. It’s located in the Upper East Side’s Mark Hotel; whoever buys it will have access to 24-hour room service from the hotel’s restaurant.

Shell out $18 million more and you could purchase, instead, the Bradbury Estates compound in Bradbury, California, whose total value is $78 million. This palatial home has an impressive 32,000 square feet of living space, seven bedrooms, and ten full bathrooms (three of these are partial). It’s also a very new house, having been built in 2011.

Finally, the most expensive home on the list is the Fleur de Lys mansion in Los Angeles; its price tag reads $125 million. It has a total of 35,046 square feet, twelve bedrooms, and fifteen bathrooms. Its chic locale is Bel Air’s Holmbly Hills. Car lovers listen up: Fleur de Lys has a nine-car garage. Other residences on the list are found in Rollins, Montana, Miami Beach, Florida, and Zephyr Cove, Nevada.
